The “Buy a Brick” campaign is being led by PPHPZ with financial support from Stanbic Bank
Zambia. Stanbic Bank has committed to supporting the urban poor by providing decent
shelter, ensuring their dignity. To date, 67 houses have been built and handed over to
beneficiaries, 80% of whom are women and youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative is a bold move, demonstrating the power of collaboration between the
government and the private sector in addressing Zambia’s growing housing deficit. The
current housing backlog exceeds 2 million units, and over 15% of newly constructed housing
each year is substandard for human habitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through Stanbic’s Buy a Brick campaign, we are not only restoring dignity and safety to
vulnerable households but also showcasing an effective model for supporting the urban
poor, where their contributions play a key role in delivering low-cost or affordable housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
